Free auto-trace tools — including the browser ones — guess at your logo’s shapes. They usually leave jagged edges, off curves, and hundreds of messy anchor points. That is fine for a rough draft, but a printer or embroiderer will reject it.

Raster vs vector, in plain words
A JPG or PNG is a raster file: a grid of colored dots. Blow it up for a banner and the dots show, so the edges go fuzzy. A vector file (AI, SVG, EPS or PDF) stores shapes as math instead, so it prints sharp at any size. Printers, sign shops, vinyl cutters and embroiderers all ask for vector files for that reason.
