Deep dive

About Calculate a Discount.

Calculate Any Discount — Sale Price, Savings, and Tax

Enter an original price and a percent off to see the sale price and exactly what you save. Stack several coupons, add sales tax after the discount, or work backward from an original and a sale price to find the percentage off. Every number updates as you type.

Because it runs entirely in your browser, there's nothing to upload and no sign-up. It also handles the part most quick "percent off" tools get wrong: stacked coupons apply one after another, so 20% then 10% is 28% off, not 30% — this calculator shows the real figure and the gap.

Honest caveat: it's a planning estimate. You enter the tax rate yourself, and it rounds to the nearest cent — a store that rounds each line separately may land a penny apart.

  • Store sales: "40% off" on a $65 jacket — see the $39 price and the $26 you save before you reach the register.
  • Stacked coupons: A 25% storewide sale plus a $10-off code, applied in order, to the real out-the-door price.
  • Tax-inclusive budgeting: Add your local sales tax after the discount to know the exact total you'll pay.
  • Spot the real deal: Enter the original and the "sale" price to reveal the true percentage off — and catch a fake markdown.
  • Markups vs. discounts: Check whether a "sale" price is actually a reduction or a price increase over the original.
  • Quotes and estimates: Apply a client or trade discount to a line item and read back the exact reduced amount.

Privacy: This runs entirely in your browser. No prices, totals, or anything you type is uploaded or stored — the math happens on your device and nothing leaves it.
