FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

How do I extract text from an image online?

Open the Image Text Recognition tool, drag in your image, pick the text language, and click Extract Text. The OCR engine reads the picture and returns editable text you can copy or download as a .txt file. You can also draw crop regions to scan only part of an image.

Is my image uploaded to a server when I run OCR?

No. The entire OCR process runs inside your browser using WebAssembly, so your image never leaves your device and nothing is sent to a server. There is no signup and no account. After the engine downloads once, recognition even works offline with no internet connection.

Can I extract text from images in languages other than English?

Yes. The tool supports over 50 languages, including Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Russian, Hindi, Armenian, and many more. Select the matching language from the dropdown before extracting so the recognition engine uses the correct character set for accurate results.

Does this tool work with multiple images at once?

Yes. You can drop up to 30 images and process them as a batch. Each result shows a confidence score, and you can copy individual text, search across all results, or download everything together as a ZIP or CSV file. Common formats like JPG, PNG, WebP, and HEIC are accepted.
