About Translate Morse Code.
Translate Text To and From Morse Code — With Sound
Type a message and get International Morse Code instantly, or paste dots and dashes and read the plain text back. This translator works both directions against the standard Morse table — the 26 letters, the digits 0–9, and common punctuation — and it can play the result out loud as timed beeps so you can hear the rhythm, not just see it.
The audio uses standard PARIS timing: a dash is three times the length of a dot, letters are separated by three dots of silence, and words by seven. Speed (5–40 WPM), tone pitch, and volume are all adjustable, so you can practice reading Morse by ear at a comfortable pace, then copy any output to your clipboard in one click.
Why Ours Is Different
No account, no upload, and nothing between you and the answer. Both the translation and the sound are generated entirely in your browser with plain JavaScript and the Web Audio API, so the text you type never leaves your device. It is also forgiving on input — paste Morse using underscores for dashes or a pipe for word breaks and it still decodes cleanly.
Honest caveat: this covers International Morse, not the older American Morse, and it does not handle prosigns or accented letters (é, ñ) beyond the standard set. Unsupported characters are simply skipped and flagged rather than guessed.
Common Use Cases
- Amateur radio practice: Hear callsigns and phrases at a set words-per-minute to train your ear for CW copy.
- Scouts and classrooms: Teach the alphabet, send SOS, and let students encode and decode each other's messages.
- Puzzle hunts and escape rooms: Decode a string of dots and dashes, or encode a clue to hide in plain sight.
- Props and engraving: Generate accurate Morse for a tattoo, bracelet, or costume so the dots and dashes actually read correctly.
- Signaling by light or sound: Turn a short message into a beep pattern you can flash or tap out.
Privacy: Everything runs entirely in your browser — both the translation and the audio are generated locally, and nothing you type is ever uploaded or logged.
