Calculate Any IPv4 or IPv6 Subnet

Enter an IP address with a CIDR prefix — or an IPv4 subnet mask — and get the network address, broadcast address, first and last usable host, total and usable host counts, the wildcard mask, and the full address range, updated live as you type.

IPv4 is computed with exact 32-bit integer math and IPv6 with 128-bit BigInt math, so even a /0 or a /48 reports the correct address count without rounding. It also handles the edge cases many calculators skip: /31 point-to-point links (RFC 3021), /32 single hosts, private, loopback, and link-local ranges, and :: zero-compression in IPv6.

One honest note on IPv6: it has no broadcast address and does not reserve the first and last host, so the whole prefix is reported as usable — that is expected behavior, not a missing feature.

  • Plan a network: pick a prefix and see exactly how many usable hosts it gives you before you commit an addressing scheme.
  • Firewall and ACL rules: turn a CIDR block into its precise host range and wildcard mask for router, firewall, and access-list configs.
  • Study for certs: check your subnetting answers for CCNA, Network+, or a networking class in seconds.
  • IPv6 addressing: work out the network and range for a /48, /56, or /64 delegation and read the compressed and expanded forms side by side.
  • Troubleshoot: confirm whether two addresses fall inside the same subnet by comparing their network addresses.
  • Convert mask to CIDR: paste a dotted subnet mask like 255.255.255.0 and read back the equivalent /24 prefix.
