About Summarize Text.
Summarize long text down to its key sentences
Paste an article, report, transcript, or set of notes and this tool pulls out the sentences that carry the most weight, then hands them back in the order they were written. Choose how much to keep — a fixed number of sentences or a percentage of the original — and watch the word count and reduction figure update as you drag the slider.
It runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste is uploaded, stored, or sent to a server, so it is safe for confidential drafts, client documents, and internal notes. There is no sign-up, no account, and no cap on how much text you can run through it.
One honest caveat: this is an extractive summarizer, not an AI writer. It scores your existing sentences by weighted word frequency (after dropping common stopwords) plus a small boost for the opening lines, then selects the strongest ones. It never rewrites, paraphrases, or invents anything — so it can't misquote the source, but the result reads as well-chosen highlights rather than a fresh paragraph. That's exactly what you want when the author's precise wording matters, and a limitation when you're after a smooth rewrite.
- Skim before you commit: get the gist of a long article or research paper before deciding whether to read the whole thing.
- Meeting and call transcripts: pull the substantive lines out of a rambling auto-generated transcript.
- Study notes: compress a chapter or lecture write-up into a handful of takeaway sentences.
- Self-edit check: run your own draft through it to see whether your main points still stand out when trimmed.
- Reports and email threads: extract the core message from a wall of text you don't have time to read in full.
- Quick TL;DR: build a short summary to drop at the top of a longer piece for readers in a hurry.
Privacy: This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your text is never uploaded or transmitted — all scoring and selection happen locally on your device, which is why it works with sensitive material and needs no account.
