Drop a .docx file and get clean, GitHub-flavored Markdown you can paste straight into a README, a wiki, a static-site post, or any Markdown editor. Headings, bold and italic, lists, links, blockquotes, code, tables, and strikethrough all carry over — and tables are written with a proper header row so they render correctly on GitHub instead of collapsing into plain text.

Most "Word to Markdown" converters upload your document to a server first. This one doesn't. The .docx is read, converted, and rendered entirely on your device, so a contract, an unpublished draft, or an internal document never leaves your computer. There's no account, no watermark, and no size-limited trial — the rendered preview and the Markdown source appear the moment you drop the file, and you can copy it or download a .md in one click.

One honest caveat: Markdown is a much simpler format than Word, so anything with no Markdown equivalent — footnotes, comments, text boxes, equations, and precise multi-column layouts — is simplified or dropped. Images come through as large inline data URIs; turn on "Remove images" when you want text-only Markdown.
