About GIF to Video.

Convert an Animated GIF to MP4 or WebM

Drop in an animated GIF and get back a real video file — an MP4 (H.264) or a WebM (VP9) — that plays smoothly and weighs a fraction of the original. The tool reads every frame, honors the GIF's own timing and disposal method so the motion looks identical, and encodes the result with your browser's built-in video encoder.

It runs entirely on your device. Nothing uploads to a server, there is no watermark, and there is no sign-up. GIF is a poor format for anything longer than a second or two — a short clip can balloon to several megabytes — so converting to MP4 or WebM usually cuts the file size dramatically while keeping the picture crisp.

Common Use Cases

  • Shrink a heavy GIF: A multi-megabyte reaction GIF becomes a tiny MP4 that loads instantly on a page or in a chat.
  • Post where GIFs aren't allowed: Turn a GIF into MP4 for Instagram, TikTok, or any feed that only accepts real video.
  • Embed on a website: Swap a bandwidth-hungry GIF for a looping <video> tag — smaller, sharper, and kinder to mobile data.
  • Feed a video editor: Bring a screen-recording GIF into Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, or CapCut as a proper clip.
  • Flatten transparency cleanly: Composite a transparent GIF onto a white or black background so it reads correctly as video.

What to Know

This tool uses the WebCodecs video encoder, so it needs a recent Chromium-based browser (Chrome, Edge, or Opera) on desktop or Android; Safari and Firefox may not support it yet, and the tool will tell you if that's the case. MP4 is the most widely compatible choice, while WebM is often smaller. Because video has no transparency, see-through areas of the GIF are filled with the background color you choose.

Privacy: The entire conversion runs locally in your browser using your device's own video encoder. Your GIF is never uploaded, and the finished video is created right on your machine.
