Remove the Audio From a Video — Right in Your Browser

Drop in an MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV, or AVI and this tool remuxes it with the audio track dropped and the video stream copied untouched. Because the picture is never re-encoded, muting is fast and the quality is byte-for-byte identical to the original — you lose the sound and nothing else.

Everything happens on your device. The file is loaded into an in-browser FFmpeg engine (WebAssembly), stripped of audio with a single copy pass, and handed back as a download. There is no upload, no server, and no account. The first run fetches the ~25 MB engine once; after that it stays cached for the session.

Common Use Cases

• Social clips: Kill background noise or a copyrighted song before posting to Instagram, TikTok, or X so the clip isn't muted or taken down for you.
• Screen recordings: Drop the mic audio and room chatter from a demo capture, leaving just the on-screen action for a README or support reply.
• B-roll and backgrounds: Prep a silent looping clip for a website hero, kiosk, or presentation where a soundtrack would be intrusive.
• Privacy: Remove a conversation, address read aloud, or other sensitive audio before sharing a video with someone else.
• Smaller files: Shed the audio track to trim a few megabytes off a clip you're emailing or uploading.
• Re-scoring: Strip the original sound so you can drop the silent video into an editor and add your own music or voiceover.

An honest note: because the video stream is copied rather than re-encoded, the output keeps the same container and codec as your source — this works for virtually every consumer video, but an unusual format that doesn't allow a direct stream copy will report an error instead of silently degrading your file. Muting also loads the whole video into memory, so extremely large files (near 500 MB) are best handled on a desktop browser.

Privacy: The entire process runs entirely in your browser using a local WebAssembly build of FFmpeg. Your video never leaves your device and nothing is uploaded to any server.
